Senator Feinstein Attacks the 50 Caliber Rifle- "Again"
February 20, 2005
Senator Diane Feinstein (CA) continues her unabated attack on law abiding owners of the fifty caliber target rifle by promising to add an amendment onto the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act which is being debated in the US House of Representatives now. The bill is designed to protect firearms manufacturers from "junk lawsuits" by gun control groups and politicians to sue the firearms industry out of business. At least 20 localities nationwide have filed lawsuits for medical expense reimbursements or damages for the victims' surviving family members. The bill (sponsored by Rep. Cliff Stearns, Florida Republican) will more than likely pass out of the House on a bipartisan vote, but the battle will be fought in the US Senate where anti gun Democrats have promised to add amendments that will kill the bill. Senator Feinstein said she's going to focus on restricting the sale of .50-caliber rifles, saying the weapon's ability to be "accurate for miles" and "then go through concrete walls" poses a serious and undeniable threat to America's homeland security should a terrorist get hold of one.

The inflammatory remarks and scare tactics used by Senator Feinstein are the same used several times before by her colleagues promoting gun control at any cost. The same tactics are used by major news organizations in their “special reports” documenting the .50 caliber rifle. They capitalize by using trusted positions of elected office and a captive audience of viewers to distort the subject to an uninformed public. They demonize and use inflammatory language to create a “crisis” that begs for legislative controls. The legislative controls that equate to a blatant attack on the 2nd Amendment.

FCI is asking all law abiding gun owners to contact their congressional representative and their US Senator and demand they oppose the tactics used by Senator Feinstein.
